Snow, wind play havoc on plains

Overdrive‘s own Wendy Parker sent in this photo from frigid Colby, Kan., late yesterday, where high winds, freezing temps and no small amount of snow prompted authorities to close I-70 all the way west to the state line. “We’re stuck like Chuck,” she said, after shutting done ahead of the worst of the storm.

A winter weather advisory for near-blizzard conditions remains in effect through noon today for the lower Missouri River Valley, with accumulations of 2-5 inches possible through Central and Eastern Missouri through the morning hours. The system is expected to move up through the Great Lakes region and to the Northeast today.

I use to thrive in this kind of weather, more so when everyone got off the road and I could truck without worrying about a clown doing 5mph with their flashers on. Across Utah and Wyoming was fantastic in a blizzard. I still drive like it is sunny out in heavy snow today, I guess I must have a screw loose. But in 39 years I never put one in a ditch or had to get towed out of anywhere. Am I bragging, no no no no, just letting you know that you got rid of some of the best.
