#9 – Darian Stephens – Keystone J.R. – 1995 Freightliner Classic

Stephens says lots of chrome and stainless is not the key to winning – although there’s no doubt it helps. “It’s more the cleaning and detailing,” he says. In addition to basic cleaning, waxing and polishing, Stephens pays attention to details such as dressing and lettering the tires, coloring in his mudflaps to match the truck colors, and lying underneath the truck and touching up paint chipped from winter driving. “You don’t just go out and spend 10 grand on chrome, run it through a truck wash and wonder why it doesn’t win,” he says.
