Genre: Mystery

Plot: Attorney Luke Creed’s company is being sued by a family in a wrongful death suit. The lawyer for the family turns out to be Amy Hazeltine Nash, Luke’s high school sweetheart. But as they investigate, they find there is a cover-up going on with a new drug, involving lawyers from Luke’s firm. The more they investigate, the more cover-up they find.

Main characters: Creed is a Houston lawyer for a big pharmaceutical company who’s family owns a large ranch. He is a divorced father of two girls. Amy Nash is a lawyer and a divorced mother of one daughter.

Which character was your favorite? Why?: Luke Creed, because he got in there and investigated a new drug even after his boss told him to just protect the client and that everything was fine with the drug. He didn’t stop even when it was dangerous.

What’s best (or not)?: I liked the way it was written. It makes you wonder just how many drugs get on the market that might be harmful.
Would you recommend? Yes.

Narrator’s style: Stevie Ray Dallimore has a good voice. A narrator can make or break the book. He is good.

How would you rate the book? B+

Star Trek: The Genesis Wave 2 –

Listening Time: 3 hours
Publisher: Simon & Schuster Audio
Retail: $18
Genre: Science fiction

Plot: A wave of man-made molecules rushes across the universe to wipe out planets inhabited by humans to be reborn for a new breed of creatures that have the ability to take over human brains and read their thoughts. Star fleet must stop them before they reach earth. They receive help from Klingons and Romulans, but at what price?

Main characters: Dr. Carol Marcus is 134 years old and the creator of the Genesis Wave. Captain Picard is the captain of the Enterprise.

What’s best (or not)?: As a Trekky from way back, it answered some questions for me about what happened long ago. But the music is overpowering at times. I had to adjust the audio many times.

Would you recommend?: Yes, I would. It’s an interesting story from the start and keeps you guessing until the end. As a series, I would want to listen to all of them, but each book is a story in itself with a start, middle and ending.

Narrator’s style: Tim Russ is the narrator. He has a mild voice that’s very easy to listen to, and he is very articulate.

What Should I Do with My Life? –
Po Bronson

The author traveled the country in search of individuals who have struggled to find their calling, their true nature. People who made mistakes before getting it right.
“We all have passions if we choose to see them,” Bronson writes. “Most of us don’t get epiphanies. We don’t get clarity. Our purpose doesn’t arrive neatly packaged as destiny. We only get a whisper. A blank, non-specific urge. That’s how it starts.”
With humor, empathy and insight, Bronson probes the depths of people who learned how to hear the whisper, who overcame fear and confusion to find a larger truth about their lives.
