ABM Names Truckers News Finalist for Neal Award

The American Business Media recently announced that Truckers News is a finalist in the 50th anniversary of the Jesse H. Neal Awards competition.

Judges selected Truckers News’ March 2003 comprehensive editorial package on cargo theft as one of three finalists in the Best Single Article category. Only 78 of the 1,283 entries made it to the finalist round after going through a rigorous screening and judging process involving 150 senior-level business-to-business publication editors, 21 members of the ABM Editorial Committee and an eight-member Board of Judges.

“It is a huge honor for our editorial team to be recognized for its hard work and dedication to this important story,” Editor Randy Grider said. “In addition to daily safety concerns for truck drivers who are our readers, cargo theft is a growing economic problem that transcends the trucking industry. It costs our economy between $12 billion and $20 billion annually. Our editorial team spent many long hours interviewing truckers, law enforcement officials and cargo theft task force members for the story. It’s rewarding to see that our peers in the industry found the story worthy of such high recognition.”

The Neal winners will be presented March 18 at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York City.
