Synthetic oil manufacturer Amsoil, with a significant presence in the trucking industry, continues its support of dirt track racing in the Midwest as the new title sponsor of the Superior Speedway in its home city of Superior, Wis., at the Head of the Lakes Fairgrounds on the south end of the city. The sponsorship agreement includes naming rights to the facility, and the track formerly known as Superior Speedway will now, for a minimum of three years, be known as Amsoil Speedway.

“We are very excited to have Amsoil on board with us in our new venture at Superior,” said Speedway promoter Joe Stariha. “With the great changes we have already made at the Speedway this agreement brings even more stability to the track this year and for years to come. With Amsoil being such a great business in Superior and being so involved in the racing industry, we look forward to a great relationship with the entire Amsoil crew for years to come.”

Regular Friday-night races are ongoing after weather pushed opening night at the track to May 20, the speedway website notes.

Amsoil began producing synthetic motor oil in 1972 and has been expanding the boundaries of lubrication science and redefining the performance possibilities of modern machinery and engines ever since. The company’s corporate headquarters, 700,000-foot manufacturing plant and main distribution center are located in Superior and serve as a base for nearly 300 local jobs for Twin Ports residents.

“Amsoil is excited and thankful for the opportunity to sponsor a great racing facility, especially with it being our hometown track,” said Amsoil Race Program Jeremy Meyer.  “It is great to see Superior back as an Amsoil Dirt Track Series venue. We are convinced that with our support, and the new regime change, they will continue to bring great racing to the community of Superior.”

The company is also the title sponsor of the WISSOTA Promoters Association, known as the Amsoil Dirt Track Series. The track will be fully WISSOTA sanctioned in 2011 and will feature WISSOTA Late Models, Modifieds, Super Stocks, Midwest Modifieds and Pure Stocks every Friday night throughout the summer.  For more information, visit the Amsoil website.
