TruckX founder Tapan Chaudhari announced the company’s electronic logging device and fleet management software Wednesday at the Mid-America Trucking Show in Louisville, Ky.

The ELD function, like that of many TruckX competitors, is based on a mobile app and a box that connects to the truck’s electronic control module.

TruckX offers three pricing choices. The Basic level, which is free, includes basic logging, dispatching and load features.

The Standard level, at $16 per month per truck, adds at no cost the ECU connection box, which enables the system to be compliant with the ELD mandate from the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. The box will be available in two or three months, Chaudhari said.

The Advance level, at $24 per month, is more of a fleet management suite of services. The Advance level adds GPS route history, IFTA calculations, idle time tracking, vehicle diagnostics, geofencing and other features.

“Our vision is to have a single app” that covers logging and many other functions in a simple format, Chaudhari said.

The app will be available for download on Android and iOS platforms in a week or two.

One feature allows drivers to take a photo and have it automatically associated with the log and other records. This is helpful for speedy transmission or easy retrieval of invoices, bills of lading and other documents, Chaudhari said.
