Selma, Ala.-based Tim Spence has been an owner-operator and small fleet owner in his 20-year over-the-road trucking career, he says. Today, though, he only takes the occasional driving gig as he devotes more time to other pursuits. Chief among them are his Apps4Truckers podcast, which combines driver interviews, podcast profiles and reviews of smartphone apps with a focus on being “the transition place,” Spence says, between technical software instruction and information about such software that is actually useful.

For the last 10 months, Spence has “done at least one podcast a month,” he says, garnering anywhere from 400-700 listens by drivers. “I’m just out there to try to offer quality content in a quality podcast.”
