Central Maine earns top marks again
Central Maine Transport, Bangor, Maine, was named the state’s Top Rated Trucking Company for the second year in a row by the Maine Motor Transport Association. Co-sponsored by the American Trucking Associations, the award recognizes safety and highway courtesy.

Merit Distribution Services, Temple, Texas, and U.S. Xpress, Chattanooga, Tenn., are the second and third fleets with driver-training programs certified by the Professional Truck Driver Institute. CRST International, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, was the first.

Midwest Coast Transport, Sioux Falls, N.D., received the top safety award in its class from the Florida Trucking Association, and its MCT Foliage Group was named carrier of the year for the third consecutive year by the Tropical Plant Industry Exhibition in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

Kretz Trucking, Antigo, Wis., announced that driver Gilbert Servi received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Association of Small Trucking Companies. Servi has worked for Kretz since 1951.

CFI, Joplin, Mo., announced its 2001 drivers of the year: contract driver, Wilfredo Colon of Coconut Creek, Fla.; contract team, John and Sherry Hufford of Bell, Fla.
