Genre: Mystery

Plot: This is a plot that, while far-fetched, welds the audience to a web of lust for power and money. Out of greed, Thane Coder’s wife Jessica pushes him into a conspiracy to kill his best friend, the CEO of a construction company. When Thane is made CEO in his place, another friend starts investigating, and Thane realizes he must kill this friend, too.

The string of murders and utter lack of loyalty to those friends and compatriots is nearly impossible to comprehend. This tangled mess is best described in a fiction because real life is not like this story. Thane Coder and wife Jessica are epic bad guys from start to finish. When the story tells of a horrible occurrence, it gets worse.

For this listener, it is next to impossible to fathom dastardly actions such as those depicted. But the author never changes course, though the end justifies the events rather appropriately. Otherwise it would have been a bad experience to endure this story. Very exciting, clever and unusual.

What was your favorite moment? The end was uplifting and a total surprise.

Which character was your favorite? Thane Coder is a true bad guy but driven by love of his unbelievable wife.

Does the book have a message or theme? Crime does not pay. This message comes out many times.

What did you like or dislike? Dislike – too many murders (mindless and unnecessary). Like – good storyline and great ending!

Would you recommend this book to friends? Yes, it’s an entertaining and thought-provoking story on how not to live!

Narrator’s style: Very well narrated. Scott Brick told the story not as if he were reading it but as if he was actually there.

How would you grade the book? B, because it is good but too gruesome for an A.

The assassination of the U.S. Speaker of the House has shaken the nation. And the outrageous members of the Camel Club have found a chilling connection with another death: the demise of the director of the Library of Congress’ rare books room, whose body has been found in a locked vault where seemingly nothing could have harmed him.

A man who calls himself Oliver Stone is the group’s unofficial leader. Staying one step ahead of his violent past and headquartered in a caretaker’s cottage in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Stone draws on his experience and deductive powers to discover that someone is selling America to its enemies one classified secret at a time. When Annabelle Conroy, the greatest con artist of her generation, struts onto the scene in high-heeled boots, the Camel Club gets a sexy new edge. And they’ll need it, because the two murders are hurtling them into a world of high-stakes espionage.
