Rodney and Randy Timms own this racy trailer, pulled by a 1985 Peterbilt 359, that serves as a garage for Randy’s race car and as a portable shop when he’s at the track. The trailer is a 1985 TMC enclosed car hauler that holds three race cars, 40 tires and wheels, 25 differentials, eight motors and a shop. The Pete has a Cummins 400 Big Cam II, a 15-speed Eaton Fuller overdrive transmission and 3.55 Eaton rears. The Timmses own Western Flyer Express, a small fleet in Oklahoma City.
Logging miles
Jim Hansen, who has hauled logs and pulpwood throughout Michigan for 28 years, recently got a 2001 Kenworth C500 equipped with a Cummins Signature 600 and an 18-speed Eaton Fuller transmission. The truck also boasts a 22,000-pound steer axle with 52,000-pound drive axles. Transport Trailers of Fennville, Mich., built the air-ride trailer.
Birthday girl
The Starship will celebrate her 21st birthday in September. During her two decades, she has traveled from coast to coast delivering steel and other materials used to build trailers. The 1980 Peterbilt, co-owned by Homer, Gene and Dave Waller, has a Cummins 440-plus, 15-speed Eaton Fuller transmission and Rockwell SQHD 3.70 rears with a 265-inch wheelbase. The interior is leather with chrome, stainless and wood trim. It has 32 switches that operate the 135 exterior lights and the accessories, which include a train bell, two sets of train horns, an air-operated hood and fluorescent lights.
