Peterbilt 579 gets SmartWay designation

Peterbilt announced its new 579 model has received the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's SmartWay designation. The model meets the program’s established set of fuel-saving, low-emission equipment specifications for new Class 8 long-haul tractors and trailers. The model features an aerodynamic styling, a new interior, vehicle system enhancements like optimal an chassis system to reduce noise and vibration and integrated powertrain configurations. The J.D. Power and Associates’ 2012 Customer Satisfaction Study found Freightliner as the highest ranking heavy-duty truck manufacturer, followed by Volvo in second, and Peterbilt in third place in both the on-highway and vocational segments of the study. Kenworth boasts the highest ranking manufacturer in customer satisfaction with dealer service.
