Following a slight drop in prices last week, diesel prices held steady during the week ending June 27 at $2.426 per gallon, according to the Department of Energy’s weekly report.
Slight changes up and down in different regions resulted in no change to the nationwide average. The biggest increase came in California, where prices rose 1.7 cents. The largest decrease was in the Gulf Coast region, where prices dropped 1.1 cents.
The nation’s most expensive diesel is in California at $2.803 per gallon, followed by the West Coast less California at $2.60 per gallon.
The cheapest fuel can be found in the Gulf Coast at $2.285 per gallon, followed by the Lower Atlantic region at $2.361 per gallon.
Diesel prices in other regions, according to the DOE, are:
- New England – $2.491
- Central Atlantic – $2.535
- Midwest – $2.389
- Rocky Mountain – $2.429
Promiles’ numbers during the same week reflect a slight increase of four-tenths of a cent nationwide to $2.392 per gallon.
According to ProMiles’ Fuel Surcharge Index, the most expensive diesel can be found in California at $2.788 per gallon, and the cheapest can be found in the Gulf Coast region at $2.30 per gallon.
