For the first time this season, the Minimizer Bandit Big Rig Series will venture outside the South, with a race day scheduled for Saturday, July 15, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

The racers will take over Hawkeye Downs Speedway for the series’ seventh race of the 13-race inaugural season.

“This will be our Midwestern debut, and we can’t wait,” says Bandit Director of Operations Brian Madsen.  “Up until this point, all of our races have taken place in the southeastern United States. Our series is headquartered in the upper Midwest, and I know our fans will be rocking the house at Cedar Rapids, July 15.”

Bandit racer “88 Mike” Morgan is on a two-race win streak after capturing the checkered flag at Greenville-Pickens Speedway on June 10 and Highland Rim Speedway on July 1. Despite his recent hot streak, he still trails Ricky “Rude” Proffitt in the overall points standings.

Tickets for this weekend’s race can be purchased ahead of time online. Adults can get in for $20, children ages 6-12 can get in for $5, and children 5 and under are free. Pit passes are also available for the race at $30, which allow access to the pit area throughout the day. Pit gates open at 12 p.m., and grandstands open at 5 p.m. Racing will begin at 7:30 p.m.
