Bergstrom designs no-idle solution for hot climates

Bergstrom Inc. announced a new battery-powered no-idle solution for hot climates. The NITE Phoenix, which joins the NITE Plus and NITE Day Cab in the company’s lineup, has a larger compressor, as well as an LCD digital user interface and battery monitoring system that make it easier for drivers to control the unit. Features include onboard service diagnostics, automatic temperature control and a check filter function.

“The goal in developing our line of battery-powered NITE systems is to provide drivers with an effective solution to maintaining cab comfort while adhering to no-idling restrictions,” said Bill Gordon, national director of aftermarket and director of global marketing for Bergstrom. “The NITE Phoenix is a powerful addition to our line of NITE Systems.”

As a battery-powered no-idling system, the California Air Resources Board-approved NITE Phoenix unit is able to generate high BTU cooling capacity without emissions, according to Bergstrom, which also announced a lithium-ion (Li-Ion) battery for its NITE systems designed to improve power efficiency, resulting in longer run times. At only 110 pounds, the Li-Ion battery weighs 63 percent less than the traditional battery option while providing 16 percent more power. Bergstrom says the battery boasts an estimated lifespan of six to eight years.
