Shawna Hicks wrote us last week with a request. Her father, Allen, of Orem, Utah, was missing. Before we could get word out about the search, he was found deceased in a Hagerstown, Md., truckstop. She asks that able parties donate to a fund that has been set up to bring him home to be buried: the Wells Fargo Allen Hicks Memorial Fund, account no. 9194243458.

Allen was born in Stinnett, Texas, and was OTR for more than 30 years. After serving his country in the military, he drove for Aaron McGruder for 15 years before switching to Swift, where he adopted the CB handle of “Captain Hicky”… He eventually returned to McGruder, though his handle remained. Some fellow drivers, however, referred to him as “Steppin’ Stone.” He leaves behind five children and eight grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the many truckstops, police and all others who aided in the search for Allen.
