The collaborative “Brothers of the Highway Christmas Auction” to benefit TruckersFinalMile.org wrapped up Wednesday last week. Launched at the instigation of trucker-songwriter Paul Marhoefer and fellow songwriters Tony Justice, Brad James and Bill Weaver upon seeing the organization’s specific need this year, Marhoefer reports that, with around 90 percent of all pledged donations in, about $9,500 had been raised for the nonprofit as a result.
Sales of Paul Marhoefer’s “Old Black Epiphone” record, out earlier this year, are in part intended to benefit TruckersFinalMile.org.“There was roughly an even split between corporate and private (individual) donations,” Marhoefer notes, with the “DPF Regeneration company leading the way” on the business end.
The company, Marhoefer added, “hopes more companies get involved” going forward.
TruckersFinalMile.org was founded to assist truckers and trucking families in the most dire of circumstances — its mission is to help those needing the assistance to “reunite truck drivers and their families in the event of death, debilitating injury or serious illness.”
