A California-based trucker was sentenced Monday to 46 months in federal prison for hauling more than 44 pounds of cocaine in Kansas.

Erick Omar Rios, 37 of San Ysidro, Calif., pleaded guilty to one count of possession with intent to distribute cocaine.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the District of Kansas, Rios admitted in his plea that he was driving a truck, pulling a reefer trailer, when he was stopped by the Kansas Highway Patrol. During the stop, troopers found 10 vacuum-wrapped packages containing 44 pounds of cocaine hidden in the reefer unit on the trailer.

The report says the officers learned Rios had picked up the drugs in Los Angeles to deliver in Plainfield, Ind. He was reportedly expecting a $4,000 payout when he returned to Los Angeles.
