CARB extends ‘Truck and Bus’ regulation deadline
January 25, 2012
| by: Overdrive Staff
Truck owners will get more time to report information about their vehicles under the California Air Resources Board’s Truck and Bus Regulation.
The deadline has been extended to March 30 from Jan. 31 for fleet owners to supply information to CARB about either equipping their vehicles with diesel particulate filters or upgrading their trucks.
The extension could give owners of three or fewer trucks more time to comply with the regulation, also known as the “retrofit rule.” Owners of 1996 to 1999 MY trucks are urged to report their compliance plans by March 30, CARB said.
Compliance would involve installing the first particulate matter filter by Jan. 1, 2014, and filters for the other vehicles a year apart or sooner. The small fleet regulation doesn’t apply to drayage trucks.
For more information, call (866) 634-3735 or visit CARB’s Truckstop website.
