Carriers win Volvo safety awards

Two carriers won Volvo’s 2011 Trucks Safety awards. Roehl Transport, Inc. based in Marshfield, Wis., won the honor for the fleet with more than 20 million annual operating miles, and Stagecoach Cartage and Distribution, based in El Paso, Texas, won for the carrier with fewer than 20 million miles.

The recognition is based on the fleets’ accident prevention programs and a low accident frequency rate. All U.S. and Canadian carriers with more than five Class 8 trucks are invited to apply for the honor, which was given in two categories.
