Perdue wins innovation award

Perdue Farms has won the Strategic Partnership Award for truck fleet innovation, Navistar Inc. and Salisbury, Md.-based Barr International Trucks announced. The award honors Perdue’s specifications for an ultra-lightweight version of the International ProStar+ tractor that has fully integrated tractor-trailer electronic controls. ACT raises contractor pay

Effective March 1, owner-operators with hazmat credentials are eligible to make $1 per loaded mile on every load hauled for American Central Transport Inc., the Liberty, Mo.-based dry van carrier says. Non-hazmat loads are included in the price increase. Owner-operators with over-the-road contracts are eligible for pay increases per mile that can range from $3,000 to $4,000 per year, Egan, Minn.-based Dart Transit Co. says. A Pilot Flying J travel plaza has opened in St. George, S.C., at Exit 77 off Interstate 95 on U.S. Highway 78, says a spokeswoman for the travel center franchise.
