Dart to raise contractor pay

Owner-operators with over-the-road contracts are eligible for pay increases per mile that can range from $3,000 to $4,000 per year, Egan, Minn.-based Dart Transit Co. says. Driving team named Trucker Buddies

Team drivers Susan and Henry Gantner were named Trucker Buddy of the Month for November 2011. The owner-operators were nominated by Chassidy Vissering and her second-grade class at Pewitt Elementary in Omaha, Texas. A Pilot Flying J travel plaza has opened in St. George, S.C., at Exit 77 off Interstate 95 on U.S. Highway 78, says a spokeswoman for the travel center franchise. The 13,350-square-foot center hosts six gasoline islands, eight diesel lanes and two RV lanes with DEF.  The high-speed fuel pumps help with traffic flow in and out of the center, and RV drivers have access to parking, bulk propane and a dump station. No parking at stop for Bike Week

Truckers can get fuel but may not park at Love’s truck stop 316 in Ormond Beach, Fla., March 8-18, during so-called Bike Week. The stop is adjacent to Daytona Harley Davidson, which has heavier than normal traffic during Bike Week.
