Cheers, stars launched the Great American Trucking Show

When the Great American Trucking Show roars into Dallas next Thursday, the national trade show will mark its 12th anniversary.

For the record, it started with a bang.

The Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders led cheers for the show’s opening at the Dallas Convention Center. LeeAnn Rimes, Tanya Tucker and Sawyer Brown and the Beach Boys all gave separate concerts over the three-day extravaganza. More than $24,000 worth of prizes were given away while some 40,000 people “streamed past gleaming show trucks,” Overdrive said.

One of those gleaming trucks is featured on OverdriveRetro’s Truck Photo Gallery this week. Take a look at Brad Caton’s “blue chip” quality rigs and try to remember your favorite all-time Pride & Polish entry — even if it was just from sidelines as a show visitor taking in all the sites.

The show still features big stars — like Jamey Johnson and the free 5:30 p.m. Friday concert he’ll be giving this year. New on the horizon this year, Pride & Polish is hosting a championship based on the other shows in this year’s circuit.  If you’re up for it — there is a Big  Rig Run at 7 a.m. Friday and a fun walk for 9 Saturday morning.

If you’re close to Dallas, drop by to see the exhibits and trucks — or read about it at OverdriveOnlne.com later.

Hope to see you there so you can help us celebrate — and reminisce about — Overdrive’s 50th anniversary.
