Committee to finalize work on driver training April 8-10

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s Motor Carrier Safety Advisory Committee is slated to finalize its recommendations to the agency on the issue of entry-level driver training (ELDT) standards at its next meeting Monday-Wednesday, April 8-10, 2013, in Alexandria, Va. ELDT deliberation will take place Monday and Tuesday, primarily, with Wednesday devoted to a meeting of the MCSAC’s Compliance Safety Accountability (CSA) subcommittee. The subcommittee is likewise slated to brief the full committee on its prior work. (Find substantive reporting on that work via this link.)

The MCSAC will also receive briefings from the agency on:

  • FMCSA exemptions allowing motor carriers to use windshield-mounted driver video monitoring systems.
  • Its Motor Carrier Safety Assistance Program and the requirements for states to adopt and enforce compatible regulations and

There will be a public comment period at the end of each day. Meeting times follow: Monday-Tuesday, April 8-9, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. EDT, and Wednesday, April 10, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. EDT. The meetings will be held at the Hilton Alexandria Old Town, 1767 King Street, Alexandria, VA 22314 in the Washington and Jefferson Rooms on the 2nd floor. The Hilton Alexandria Old Town is located across the street from the King Street Metro station.
