Con-way Freight won the California Trucking Association’s best safety program award for companies with more than $10 million gross revenue, the Ann Arbor, Mich.-based carrier announced.
The less-than-truckload carrier also won two first-place safety awards in the more than 4 million mile short-haul and more than 7 million mile long-haul categories.
The 2010 Fleet Safety Awards were open to all members of the CTA, and submissions were judged by an independent panel chosen from government agencies. Fleets were judged on how each company organizes its safety programs, as well as training, driver supervision, preventative maintenance and overall record of accident reduction.
