One of the Pride & Polish competitors at the Great American Trucking Show, Dean Jay, is proud of a storage compartment with an automated cover that he and his sons built in their shop.

“It’s all watertight,” he says of the enclosure for storage units between the frame rails of his 2007 Peterbilt 379, Cream Puff.

He uses it to storage chains and straps for his flatbedding operation, Jay Transport, a six-truck fleet based in Ucon, Idaho. They built a similar storage unit that also opens mechanically, dropping down from under his 2013 MAC flatbed.

Jay, a hunter, also uses several animal skins to decorate the Pete’s interior.
