Daimler to extend Trucker Buddy aid

Daimler Trucks North America will support the Trucker Buddy International through 2014, the educational nonprofit outreach announced.

Freightliner Trucks, Western Star Trucks and Detroit Diesel already participate in the group’s monthly activities of monthly recognition of truckers who volunteer in the classroom program designed to increase awareness of trucking and help students with scholastic achievement. “Their commitment to Trucker Buddy is important for us and the industry,” said Randy Schwartzenburg, Trucker Buddy International director.

“Daimler Trucks North America believes in Trucker Buddy’s mission to educate schoolchildren about our industry and the people who are out there on the road day after day,” said Jennifer Edwards, marketing communications manager of Freightliner Trucks.

Trucker Buddy International was started in 1992 and is funded by sponsorships and donations.
