Date to ditch paper logs: Dec. 18, 2017

ELD gridThe Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration today shed more light on details of the exact compliance date of its soon-to-be-published electronic logging device mandate, clearing up a misconception presented Thursday about when the rule will actually be published.

The publication date, according to the pre-publication notice submitted to the Federal Register on Friday by FMCSA, is Dec. 16, 2015, meaning the compliance date of the rule for truck operators will be Dec. 18, 2017.

So, set your timer, and start the process of wishing your paper logs a fond farewell.
