Diesel drops 5th week

For a fifth consecutive week, the national average retail price of diesel dropped during the week ended June 6, according to the U.S. Department of Energy’s Energy Information Administration. The national average price dropped 0.8-cent to $3.948, the lowest price since April 4.

Prices in all regions fell modestly. The biggest declines were in high-price regions – 1.6 cents to $4.105 in New England and 1.5 cents to $4.146 on the West Coast, excluding California.

The national average price remains 99 cents higher than a year ago. The record diesel price was $4.764 in July 2008.
