Diesel price close to $4

The national average retail price of diesel climbed again, rising 4.4 cents to $3.976 a gallon during the week ended April 4, according to the U.S. Department of Energy’s Energy Information Administration.

The national average price is at its highest level since Sept. 15, 2008, when it was $4.035 and 96 cents a gallon higher than the same week last year.

California surged another 6.7 cents to $4.323, the most expensive in the nation. Average West Coast fuel, excluding California, gained 5.4 cents to $4.209. The Rocky Mountain area gained 5.8 cents to $4.017.
