The national average price for a gallon of on-highway diesel fell a cent in the week ended Aug. 11 to $3.843, according to the Department of Energy’s Energy Information Administration.

That’s the sixth straight week the national average price has dropped and the lowest the price has been since the week ended Nov. 18.

The price is also down 5.3 cents from the same week last year.

ProMiles’ Fuel Surcharge Index in its weekly data reported a 1.2-cent drop, bringing its national average to $3.775, down 6.4 cents from the same week in 2013.

Per the EIA, all regions but two saw a price decrease. The West Coast had no week-to-week price change, while the West Coast less California region had a five-tenths of a cent drop.

The New England region led the price decreases with a 3.7-cent fall, followed by the East Coast’s 1.9-cent drop and the Lower Atlantic’s 1.7-cent drop.

The West Coast region and its California subregion are the only two in which average prices remain above $4, with California posting a $4.084 average and the West Coast posting a $4.016.

The Gulf Coast had the country’s cheapest diesel, $3.75, followed by the Midwest’s $3.787 and the Lower Atlantic’s $3.80.
