Diesel price declines

After three weeks of increases, the national average retail price of a gallon of diesel dropped this week, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration. The national price fell 1.2 cents to $2.979 in the latest week.

The price is 32.7 cents higher than a year ago.

Most regions reported lower prices except for the West, where increases ranged from 0.5 cent on the West Coast to 2 cents in the Rocky Mountain area. The Central Atlantic dropped 3.1 cents as part of a 2.3-cent average decline on the East Coast. California remained the most expensive in the U.S. at $3.186 a gallon.
