Diesel price drops

For a second straight week, the national average retail price of a gallon of diesel dropped this week, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration. The national price declined 2.2 cents to $2.957 in the latest week.

The price is 28.9 cents higher than a year ago.

All regions reported lower prices except the Rocky Mountain area, where the price rose less than a penny. The Lower Atlantic fell 3 cents as part of a 2.5-cent average decrease on the East Coast. The Midwest region dropped 2.6 cents to $2.927. California retained its position as the most expensive in the U.S. at $3.171 a gallon.
