The national average price for a gallon of on-highway diesel fell another 2.3 cents in the week ended Sept. 22 to $3.778, according to the Department of Energy.

That’s the lowest average diesel price since the week ended July 16, 2012, and the 12th straight week that the price of diesel has either dropped or remained flat.

In that span, the national average price has fallen 14.2 cents.

The national average price is now 17.1 cents lower than the same week last year.

All regions in the U.S. also saw a price drop, per the DOE, led by a 3.8-cent drop in the West Coast (less California) regio and  followed by a 3-cent drop in the Midwest.

The California subregion had the country’s most expensive diesel, $4.041, and was the only region still above $4.

The Gulf Coast had the country’s cheapest diesel, $3.696, followed by the Midwest’s $3.713 and the Lower Atlantic’s $3.722.
