Diesel price goes up

After five weeks of declining prices, the national average retail price of diesel rose during the week ended June 13, according to the U.S. Department of Energy’s Energy Information Administration. The national average price gained 1.4 cents to $3.954.

Prices in most regions increased, led by a 2.2-cent gain to $4.245 in California and 1.9 cents to $3.896 in the Gulf Coast. The exceptions to higher prices were a 2.7-cent decline to $3.988 in the Rocky Mountain region and 1.8 cents to $4.087 in New England.

The national average price is $1.026 higher than a year ago. The record diesel price was $4.764 in July 2008.
