Diesel prices dropping

For the second week in a row, the national average retail price of a gallon of diesel dropped, declining 3.7 cents to $2.833, according to the Department of Energy.

Most regions reported price declines of at least 3 cents. The biggest dropoffs were in the Lower Atlantic and Midwest at 4.4 cents a gallon each.

New England remained the most expensive at $3.055 a gallon, dipping 1 cent. The Midwest was the cheapest area at $2.79.
