Diesel prices rise 3rd week in row

For a third straight week, the national average retail price of diesel increased the week ended July 25, according to the U.S. Department of Energy’s Energy Information Administration. The national average price gained 2.6 cents to $3.949.

Average prices in all regions rose in the latest week. The biggest gain of 3.3 cents to $4.038 was on the West Coast, followed by 3.1 cents to $4.145 in California and 3.1 cents to $3.913 on the Gulf Coast.

The national average price is $1.03 higher than a year ago. The record diesel price was $4.764 in July 2008.
