Diesel tech school receives Mack collection vehicle as Christmas gift

The Heavy Truck and Diesel Technology program at the Florida State College in Jacksonville, Fla., received a 32-yard rear-load 200 Mack MR 688S solid waste collection truck from Advanced Disposal Services, an environmental services company that collects, transfers, disposes and recycles waste.

According to the press release from Advanced Disposal, the truck is a holiday gift meant to give the college a means to train its students in hydraulics and diesels and, specifically, preventative maintence. β€œThe educational value of this truck from Advanced Disposal will grow with each passing term,” says Steven Wallace, president of Florida State College.

Advanded gave Wallace the keys at a ceremonial luncheon at the Heavy Truck Lab at FSC. The truck, which Advanced says is valued at $118,000, has 129,519 miles on it from its previous use as a waste collection vehicle. The truck has since received a makeover for its use as an educational tool.
