Jeff Aleman, a truck driver for CFI, has been named a Highway Angel by the Truckload Carriers Association for pulling another trucker to safety after two trucks collided.

On May 16, 2016, Aleman heard a loud noise when parked at a truck stop in Pageland, S.C., while eating dinner. When he got out of his truck to see what happened, he saw that two tractor-trailers had collided pulling out of the truck stop. He ran over to the accident and found one of the trucks wedged beneath a trailer. He called for one of the drivers, who was slow to respond.

“The driver said he was fine, but I knew from past experience that was most likely shock talking,” Aleman said.

He then crawled into the cab to help the driver and saw diesel leaking behind the driver’s head and the engine nearly in the cab, which was filled with smoke. Aleman was able to break the back window of the truck and pull the driver out, who got out with only scrapes and soreness.

TCA presented Aleman with a certificate, patch, lapel pin and truck decals for his role in helping the driver. CFI also received a certificate acknowledging their driver as a TCA Highway Angel.
