Driver of the Year

Paccar Leasing Company and the Truck Renting and Leasing Association recently recognized veteran Dana Corp. truck driver Paul Donaldson, of Evansville, Ind., with their Driver of the Year awards.

Donaldson started his career in 1963 when a neighbor offered him a job driving a truck after he graduated from high school. He spent the next four decades driving – the past 28 years for various divisions of Dana Corp. Today he pilots a Kenworth T600B on a dedicated run to the Kenworth manufacturing plant in Chillicothe, Ohio.

Donaldson has more than 3 million miles of accident-free driving. Over the years, he has earned numerous awards for continued safe driving, including 1 Million, 2 Million and 3 Million Mile Awards from the American Trucking Associations. In 1981, he was credited with rescuing a Kentucky police chief from a burning vehicle.

Star Transportation Inc., of Nashville, Tenn., honored the following drivers for their safe driving efforts: Mike Ramey, 12 years; David Brooks, 12 years; Donald Trisdale, eight years; Thomas Walker, five years; John Robinson, five years; Clay Gamble, five years; Robert Martini, four years; Joe Smith, four years; Martin Tate, three years; Reginald Reinhardt, three years; Steve Clendenin, two years; Tom Cole, two years; Bradley Spellins, two years; Edward Gammon, two years; Robert Campbell, one year; Nathan Crawford, one year; Leonard Perry, one year; Allen Carner, one year; Daniel Schulte, one year; and Sauders Sessoms, one year.

CFI Drivers of The Month
Contract Freighters Inc. recently named its March 2002 drivers of the month.

Company Driver of the Month was Elroy White of Nevada, Mo., who joined CFI in 1978 and has driven more than 2.5 million miles. Company Team Driver of the Month was awarded to Duke and Sharon Locas who joined CFI in 1999.

Contractor of the Month was Will Colon, of Coconut Creek, Fla., who joined CFI two years ago. Contractor Team of the Month was David and Shirley Schrader of Everton, Mo., who joined CFI as a priority team two years ago.

Prime Drivers Receive Rings and Diamonds

In an unrelated matter, Owens Corning/Cultured Stone recently named Prime Inc. as its carrier of the year when it presented the Logistics Systems Excellence Award North America 2001 to the Springfield, Mo.-based truckload company.

Roehl Honors 2001 Drivers
Roehl Transport’s Solo Drivers of the Year were (front, l-r) Duane Tritz, William Baldwin, Charles Oemig (back, l-r) Guy Mattson, Robert Lyon, Michael Archambeault, Mark Vike and James Wojt.

Roehl Transport driver Gary Krehmeyer was honored for becoming the company’s first-ever recipient of the 3 Million Mile Safe Driver award. He joined Roehl in 1972.


Top Driver/Trainers
Two carriers owned by Annett Holdings Inc. of Des Moines, Iowa, named their top driver/trainers and honored each recipient with a jacket, ring and plaque.

TMC named Mike Ammerman, of Grundy Center, Iowa, as its Trainer of the Year for 2001. He has been with the company since 1999.

KTL named Ronald Moore, of Edina Mo., as its Trainer of the Year for 2001. He has been with the company since 1995.


Jevic Donation
Jevic Transportation donated a check for $10,000 to Ronald McDonald House of Southern New Jersey, which helps families of critically-ill children maintain home-away-from-home facilities near area hospitals. Jevic executives and employees also volunteered at the home for a day.
