The Truckload Carriers Association and Truckers News will announce the Company Equipment Driver of the Year at TCA’s annual convention March 9-12 at the Gaylord Palms Resort and Convention Center in Orlando.
Sister publication Overdrive is co-sponsoring the Independent Contractor of the Year, which will also be announced at the meeting.
This is a special year for these prestigious awards – it is the first time that these contests were open to drivers from all trucking companies, not just TCA members.
The meeting’s headline speaker will be William Cohen, former secretary of defense in President Clinton’s cabinet, addressing one of today’s most vital topics, “The Prospects of Security and Prosperity.” Cohen is a former three-term U.S. Senator (1979-97) and was at the helm of the Defense Department when Osama Bin Laden and Al Qaeda supporters bombed the U.S. Embassies in Kenya and Tanzania and attacked the U.S.S. Cole in Yemen. He will talk about America’s fight against international terrorism.
The TCA convention also will launch the First Annual Big Rig Ride, hosted by Commercial Carrier Journal and held to benefit the Professional Truck Driver Institute. On the afternoon of Monday, March 10, Harleys will roar along sunny Florida’s open roads. For more details visit www.truckload.org.
