Those of you able to make it to the Great American Trucking Show on Friday, Aug. 22, will be in for a first-time treat. That’s when we’ll have a concert of sorts: a competition to determine who wins the Overdrive Red Eye Radio Trucker Talent Search, sponsored by Delo.

Finalists Brad James, Keith Sampson and Jennie Simpson will perform right as the show closes, at 5 p.m., at the Red Eye Radio booth in the lobby. They’ll be judged by Red Eye’s Eric Harley, singer Lindsay Lawler of “Highway Angel” fame, and Edgar Hansen of the Discovery Channel’s “Deadliest Catch.” In addition to the finalists’ prizes, the winner will be featured in the October Overdrive and online.

In addition to the finalists’ songs, emcee Tony Justice, a driver who’s also an accomplished singer-songwriter, will perform. You can read more about his new album and hear an interview with him from our earlier coverage.

The contest has been fun so far. We had more than 30 entrants, all of whom you can see and hear on our contest website.

You can also catch samples of the finalists’ performances and hear them talk about their musical interests in recent interviews with Harley:
