Sides can be a source of high calories and fat. If you are concerned about the calories in your burger, you should definitely consider the facts about the fries, too. Wendy’s offers a number of sides to replace fries, so let’s see how its large French Fries stack up against the Broccoli and Cheese Potatoes.

Large French Fries have 540 calories.

Broccoli and Cheese Potato has 330 calories.

Difference: 210, or 10.5 percent of your daily calorie intake based on a 2,000-calorie diet.

Grams of fat:

Large French Fries have 25g total fat, 4.5g saturated fat.

Broccoli and Cheese Potato has 2g total fat, 1g saturated fat.

Difference: 23g total fat, 3.5g saturated fat.

The Large French Fries have quite a few more calories, but the fat count really shows how bad fries are. The Large French fries have more than 12 times the total fat and four times the saturated fat of the Broccoli and Cheese Potato. Next time, take advantage of the side options at Wendy’s, opt out of those fries and go for the Broccoli and Cheese Potato.
