Epes Transport System driver Eric Betts won a new Chevrolet Silverado, and Tim Britt and Donald Washburn won $5,000 for having the most referrals in a carrier-wide contest, the Greensboro, N.C.-based carrier announced.
After the drivers tied for first place, their names were drawn recently to determine which prize each would receive.
Epes Transport was recently named Walmart General Merchandise Gold Carrier of the Year and one of the top nominees for the Truckload Carriers Association’s Best Fleets to Drive For Award.
Epes driver Freddy Bell was chosen as a finalist for the TCA Driver of the Year Award and TCA also named driver Marcus Beam as the 2011 Highway Angel of the Year for rescuing a mother and her two children from an overturned vehicle while on the job. Beam was awarded a trophy at the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl in Boise, Idaho on Dec. 17.
