Fitzgerald Pride & Polish winners: Ashley’s ‘Double Take’ Pete, father-son duo take top billing

Austin Ashley and his 2007 Peterbilt 379 continued their winning ways this weekend at the Fitzgerald Truck Show Pride & Polish, earning both Best of Show in the Limited-Mileage Bobtail category and the People’s Choice award.

Perennial Pride & Polish competitor Mike Manuel won Best of Show in the Limited-Mileage Combo category with his 1984 Peterbilt 359 and Benson flatbed, while father and son duo Ron and Dan Brubaker won top honors in the two working truck categories, with a 1993 Peterbilt 379 and 2014 Pete 389 and Wilson livestock trailer, respectively.

All four trucks are now qualified to compete in the Overdrive’s Pride & Polish National Championship next month at the Great American Trucking Show in Dallas. (Click here to register to attend that show.)

Ashley and his truck have been on a hot streak since August 2012. The rig won Best of Show at the Great American Trucking Show Pride & Polish in Dallas that year, qualifying him for the 2013 Overdrive’s Pride & Polish National Championship judging round, where it won the Trucker’s Choice National Championship.

He’s also picked up several other Pride & Polish awards along the way and was named Best of Show, first runner-up at this year’s Shell Rotella SuperRigs competition.

Manuel won Best of Show with his ‘84 Pete and matching flatbed in last year’s 75 Chrome Shop Pride & Polish show, along with other awards in other Pride & Polish events.

In the Builders Class category at the Fitzgerald show, American Trucker host Robb Mariani won the bobtail category with his recently completed “Low Patrol,” a 1974 Ford W9000 (which you can read more about here), and Brian Davis won the combo category with this ‘05 379 and matching 2012 Wilson trailer. Davis’ truck also won Best of Show in the Limited Mileage Combo category at the 2013 Great American Trucking Show Pride & Polish.
