American Moving & Storage Association names safest operators, fleets

The American Moving & Storage Association announced award its winners: Albert Moving & Storage, Independent Mover of the Year, Barrett Moving’s Richard Rosenbush, 2010 Super Van Operator Lifetime Achievement Award; Robert Stanton, leased to Bekins Van Lines, Super Van Operator for Special Commodities; Bailey’s Moving & Storage’s Robert Westfall, Super Van Operator in the household goods category; and Graebel Sacramento Movers’s Keith Winfree, Rookie Super Van Operator.



HONORS

Company driver Isaiah Hamilton was recently honored for completing 3 million miles of safe driving, Clayton-Ala.-based Boyd Bros. Transportation announced. Hamilton received a bonus check, a gold watch, belt buckle, trophy, company pin and cap… Fort Dodge, Iowa-based Decker Truck Line Inc. has named Stan Giddings and Rick Lackner its 2010 Drivers of the Year, in the flatbed and reefer-van divisions, respectively, while 2010 December Drivers of the Month are John Kilmer for the flatbed division and Matt Cook for the reefer-van division… Hornady Transportation, based in Monroeville, Ala., recognized William Anderson for driving 2 million miles safely and Charles Bodiford and Chris Jackson for driving 1 million safe miles… George Dito was named HWC Transportation 2010 Luchious Eugene Wren Driver of the Year.

Effective March 1, owner-operators leased to American Central Transport are eligible for 98 cents per loaded miles and 90 cents per authorized empty mile while company drivers are eligible for up to 45 cents per miles in an overall pay raise, the dry van truckload carrier said… Owner-operators leased to Fikes Truck Line can get a 1 percent pay increase for using uDrove’s electronic hours of service program.
