Celadon wins Alcoa’s top annual award

Celadon Trucking Services, part of Indianapolis-based Celadon Group, was named Alcoa’s 2011 Tier 1 Van Carrier of the Year. “We want to recognize their exceptional performance by using criteria that is objective, measurable and transparent,” said Tim Reyes, president of Alcoa’s materials management division.

HONORS

Bay & Bay Transportation, based in St. Paul, Minn., honored with its Top Dog awards Pam Hokanson, Tim Langer, Al Lloyd and Peter Yelisiyev as the fleet’s top producing drivers … LeMars, Iowa-based B-T Inc. named Raymond Kashas, Mark Kimball, Cully Ver Meer and Nathan Wissner Drivers of the Month for the first quarter of 2012… Central Freight Lines, based in Waco, won a Texas Motor Transportation Association first place safety award in the Intercity, 10 Million to 20 Million Miles Class… Robert Dodds and Brian Samuelson were named Fort Dodge, Iowa-based Decker Truck Line’s February Drivers of the Month, and Rodney Knapp and Dale Leman scored March Driver of the Month honors… Heartland Express, based in North Liberty, Iowa, has been named the Winegard antenna maker’s 2011 Truckload Carrier of the Year… Prime Inc., based in Springfield, Mo., named Jerry Gambrell the 2011 Instructor of the Year and recognized Jeff Ayers and John Valentine for having logged 3 million miles of safe driving.

Atlas Van Lines, based in Evansville, Ind., is offering a $5,000 sign-on bonus as part of Shuttle Fleet’s launch… Drivers for Epes Transport System, based in Greensboro, N.C., are eligible to earn a 7 cent pay increase per loaded mile for loads delivered to the Northeast.

 

OUTREACH

Hope, Ark.-based Fikes Family of Companies, which includes Fikes Truck Line, participated in the American Cancer Society Relay for Life and donated $2,000 to its outreach efforts.
