Zeitner Drivers
Zeitner & Sons announced that Bill Hulten recently passed the 3-million-mile mark for the company. Hulten, who is one of Zeitner’s original owner-operators, has been with the family-run company since its inception more than 20 years ago.

Zeitner, based in Omaha, Neb., also had three drivers reach the 1-million-mile mark: Roger Robinson, Joe Babella and Tim Rockwell, who was the Nebraska Driver of the Month in September 2006.

Zeitner, which purchased Mainliner Motor Express in 2000, also announced that it recently combined both companies. Zeitner now has a fleet of 100 trucks, with an additional 15 drivers who have more than 500,000 miles while driving for the company.


Landstar Roadstars
Landstar System recognized 19 independent contractors as Landstar Roadstars, bringing the total group’s membership to 285. New winners of the lifetime achievement award are: Ray Anderson, Frank Beltran, Diane Benjamin, William Cleary, Dennis Depoy, Paul Gardner, Ralph Griffin, Ron King, Dennis Lewer, Andy Millar, Greg Ousley, Paul Peterson, Bob Plymale, Terry Reed, Cletus Renninger, George Stephens, Chuck Vaughan, Bob Wagnell and Ronald Walker.
Inductees were honored at Landstar’s annual convention in Marco Island, Fla.


Hill Bros. Drivers
Hill Bros. Transportation recently recognized nine drivers and owner-operators who have surpassed the 1-million-mile mark or greater. Each of the drivers achieved their mileage totals in 2006.

Lawrence Vandemark of Iowa, who has been a company driver with Hill Bros. for 21 years, was recognized for the greatest total miles among the honorees; during 2006, Vandemark’s mileage total surpassed 2.5 million miles. Two others who received honors for high total mileage were owner-operator Steven Grof of Nebraska, who has been with Hill Bros. for 15 years and reached the 2 million-mile mark; and company driver Raymond “Joe” Brooks of Kansas, who has been with Hill Bros. for 14 years and surpassed 1.75 million miles.

Hill Bros. also recognized four company drivers and two owner-operators who reached 1 million miles in 2006. Company drivers were Brice Remus of Nebraska, Thomas White of Nebraska, Darwin Weinbrandt of Nebraska and Darron Strickland of Nebraska. Owner-operators were Donald Crabbs of Missouri and Mark Decker of Missouri.


2006 Drivers of the Year
Ryder System Inc. presented its annual Driver of the Year awards to three professionals who have driven a combined 10 million injury-free miles and have more than 106 years of professional driving experience.

Each recipient received a five-day cruise to the Bahamas and Key West, a trophy, and a specially designed ring and watch, and will be inducted into the Ryder “Driver Hall of Fame.”

Lloyd “Robley” Moreau was named 2006 Driver of the Year for Ryder’s U.S. Supply Chain Solutions Automotive, Aerospace and Industrial Industries business segment. He has been a Ryder employee for 22 years and serves general motors service and parts operations. Moreau has logged more than 3.2 million collision- and injury-free miles.

Gary Cockrell was named 2006 Driver of the Year for Ryder’s U.S. Supply Chain Solutions High Tech and Consumer Industries. He has been a driver with Ryder for 26 years and serves Square D, a brand of Schneider Electric. Cockrell has driven 2.9 million collision- and injury-free miles.

Carey Young was named Ryder’s Fleet Management Solutions 2006 Driver of the Year. He is a driver for Ryder customer RHC Logistics, where he has logged more than 3.8 million accident- and injury-free miles during his 40 years of service.


CFI Drivers of the Month
CFI announced the monthly driver award recipients for March 2007. Each driver and team is automatically nominated for the 2007 year-end award in their respective category.

  • Company Driver of the Month: James McAfee, who started driving for CFI in 2004 and has driven more than 380,000 miles. He lives in Joplin, Mo.
  • Company Team of the Month: Steven and Mohrea Anderson, who began driving for CFI in 1994 and 1999, respectively. They live in Malakoff, Texas.
  • Contractor Driver of the Month: Danny Thurman, who began his career with CFI in 1991. He lives in Noel, Mo., and has driven nearly 2 million miles.
  • Contractor Team of the Month: James and Frances Doty, who began their careers at CFI in 1998 and 2002, respectively. They reside in Joplin, Mo.
