At the collapse of her employer, Arrow Trucking, just days prior to Christmas in 2009, she was there when stranded drivers the nation over needed her help getting home — Arrow driver advocate “Momma” Donna Creekmore was up for much of four days straight in those heady times, though her own troubles were beginning as well. Creekmore, in addition to being rather high-profile among industry watchers for her efforts, was in the Tulsa news at the time, where she revealed to reporters her husband’s health troubles; she’s been in the news over this past weekend as well, with a personal plea to the industry: “I hate to sound like I’m begging,” she told Tulsa News on 6 reporter Chris Wright yesterday, “but we need help.”
Creekmore today spends her time caring for her husband and searching trucking companies for work (night dispatch or recruiting would be optimal, as she told Wright) she could do from her home — now a Tulsa apartment she rented after her home in Drumwright, Okla., was foreclosed on. She remains fiercely loyal to the drivers she advocated for while with and after the demise of Arrow. As she told Wright, she will always take calls from them. “I’m still there,” she said. “They know I’m still there. No matter what, they’ll always be my drivers.”
