I saw a new product announced on http://www.truckersspace.com recently. It is a Super Magnetized
Drain Plug in 3/4″ NPT size which fits on all standard transmissions and rear differentials.
They effectively remove thousands of small, sharp metal particles out of these units and keep them out.
Oil works best, UNCONTAMINATED and by doing so insures a longer life for these units.
Kinda makes sense, because transmissions and rear differentials do not have oil filters.
Big pieces may eventually wind up on the bottom but not the small micron stuff.
When your rig goes down the road the big ring gear turns several hundred RPM and whips that oil
all over the fill plug and everything, including the particles that made it to the bottom.
Synthetic trans and rear end fluids do not foam up, thus keeping the temperature down.
