Mark your calendar, dust off your boots and point your truck in the direction of Dallas for the 8th annual Great American Trucking Show, Aug. 24-26. All things are bigger in Texas, and GATS has turned into the destination vacation of choice for truckers and their families.

It’s not hard to see why either. It’s practically a truck theme park with something for everyone. Join the crowds of trucking families as you make your way through displays where you can see what’s new in tractors, engines, electronics, gadgets, trailers and other accessories. View tricked-out rigs at the Pride & Polish Truck Beauty Show.

On Friday night, Aaron Tippin, sponsored by Mobil Delvac, will perform hits such as: “Where the Stars and Stripes and the Eagle Fly,” “There Ain’t Nothin Wrong with the Radio,” and “Working Man’s Ph.D.”

On Saturday night, country legend Ronnie Milsap is coming back by popular demand, brought to you by Volvo Trucks North America. Milsap has had more than 40 No. 1 hits, six Grammys’ and sold more than 23 million records.

If you are worried about parking – don’t be. Freightliner Trucks is sponsoring free onsite trucking parking. The 20-acre, paved lot is easy walking distance to the Dallas Convention Center. Plus, there are refreshments, entertainment by Joey Holliday and 24-hour security.

It’s not just fun and games at GATS. Experts in every area of the trucking industry will be on hand to answer questions, display their products and give you the most up-to-date, hands-on information you need to run a profitable business. Some examples of free seminars offered throughout the weekend include: How to Survive a Safety Audit, Fuel Management, Hours of Service Regulations, Saving Dollars through Maintenance and Engine Changes in 2007.

Finally, some things in life ARE free, or at least the opportunity to win them is free. Truckers News will host the third annual Mardi Gras Bead cash giveaway. Visit participating booths and collect beads to be eligible for a $1,000 per day drawing.
