Milan, Ind.-based Baylor Trucking has brought the viral “Ice Bucket Challenge” to strike out ALS at the Great American Trucking Show. To challenge the 7 million professionals in the industry to take the challenge, the company thought GATS would be a perfect venue to spread the word and get soaked along the way.

“As with many families in America, ALS has become part of our everyday life at Baylor Trucking,” says Baylor Vice President Cari Baylor. “We want to do all we can to help raise awareness and find a cure for this disease. Our family has been in trucking for 70 years, and we are thrilled so many of our trucking friends and colleagues are taking the challenge and helping fight ALS.  Our hope is to reach all corners of the industry and generate even more support for the #KeepTrucking4ALS cause.”

Among Baylor reps taking ALS donations and facilitating the ice-bucket challenge, complete with videos to be posted to the Keep Trucking for ALS Facebook page, Aug. 22 was owner-operator Richard C. Lindom Sr. He’s been leased to the company going on a decade now. Lindom said the ALS condition has hit close to home with him with members of the team at the company recently diagnosed. After planning to host the challenge out in the truck parking lot, Friday the team brought it closer to the convention-center entrance, right where most hotel and parking-lot shuttles drop off. Hours for the challenge both Friday and Saturday Aug. 22-23 are from 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
